About the Role This role provides commercial legal support across the business with a focus on contracts, risk, compliance and practical legal advice. You'll work closely with the Head of ESG & Risk and be the key contact for day-to-day legal matters. You will; Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts across multiple business areas Prepare legal documents including agreements, deeds of settlement and related commercial instruments Manage contract workflows, approvals, liability positions, terms and conditions and document storage Provide practical legal advice on commercial issues including disputes, debt matters and customer claims Support property-related legal matters including basic conveyancing requirements Identify legal risks early and guide stakeholders on practical mitigation strategies Lead compliance across privacy, data management, delegations of authority and governance processes Review and update Kennards Hire terms, policies and procedures to meet legal and business needs Engage and manage external counsel for complex matters and ensure cost-effective outcomes Deliver informal training to build internal understanding of legal risk and commercial obligations About You You're an experienced commercial lawyer who provides balanced, pragmatic advice and works effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Background in commercial or corporate law Current In-House practising certificate or willingness to obtain one Strong drafting and negotiation experience across commercial contracts Ability to assess legal, commercial and operational considerations together Five or more years post-admission experience Clear and confident communicator across all levels Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities Experience in construction or hire industries is useful but not essential This role would suit someone who's looking to step away from the high-pressure legal grind while still doing fulfilling, high-value work.
