This is a unique live-in position in a fully furnished three-bedroom house, with utilities and rent included as part of the salary package. The Caretaker plays a key role in maintaining the standards, safety, and functionality of the campus, ensuring a welcoming and productive environment for students, staff, and visitors. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Staughton Vale Campus, the Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the School’s grounds, buildings, gardens, farm facilities, livestock, and agricultural spaces. This live-in position includes after-hours responsibility for site security, property needs, and animal welfare. The role works closely with Farm Hands, property staff, contractors, and educators, supporting a wide range of tasks, including: Grounds, property, and equipment maintenance Livestock care and farm operations Horticulture, orchards, and small-scale agricultural projects Workshop upkeep and safe equipment use Event preparation and campus logistics Promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and community This role requires initiative, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Key Responsibilities Daily care and oversight of livestock and associated facilities Maintenance of buildings, grounds, gardens, and agricultural spaces Safe operation and coordination of equipment, plant, and tools Supervising and guiding Farm Hand staff Coordinating contractors and supporting property projects Ensuring compliance with OH&S and Child Safe Standards Supporting seasonal farm operations and market garden activities Maintaining site security and responding to after-hours needs About You You will be a proactive, hands-on professional who thrives in a rural, outdoor setting. You bring strong practical skills, sound judgement, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, presentation, and stewardship of the campus. You will ideally have: Experience in animal husbandry and small-scale horticulture/agriculture Competence in using tractors, mowers, and maintenance equipment Strong organisational and task management capabilities The ability to direct, support, and work alongside a small team A positive approach to problem-solving, teamwork, and communication Commitment to child safety and workplace health and safety Willingness and availability to reside on-site and respond to campus needs as required Qualifications include: Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience Working with Children Check (Employment) National Criminal History Check Australian Driver’s Licence First Aid and Chemical Users Accreditation (or willingness to obtain) Position Benefits The successful applicant will receive: On-site accommodation in a fully furnished house with three bedrooms and one bathroom.
