Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is a key finance operational role in ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and delivering statutory and management reporting and fulfilment of compliance for the WSI Group. The role requires technical knowledge and expertise to deliver accurate and timely periodic internal and external financial reports, statutory reporting including the annual financial audit and tax compliance. The role will also support the system transformation from the construction phase to the operational airport state. Key responsibilities Support the Group’s month-end processing within clearly defined timelines, including intercompany journal processing, accounting entry preparation and balance sheet account reconciliation. Reconcile fixed asset registers, including the calculation and posting of depreciation entries. Assist in the preparation of high quality and accurate consolidated financial reports. Contribute to the preparation of WSI’s annual statutory consolidated financial reports, including the development and maintenance of accounting policies and internal controls. Facilitate the external audit process by collating and coordinating WSI’s responses and liaising with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) on queries and information requests. Assist with the application of accounting standards and principles to commercial and operational processes as applicable. Support the preparation of board papers, including co-ordination of S295 annual compliance. Prepare the Central Budget Management System (CBMS) Annual Actuals Report and Supplementary Reporting Pack (SRP). Assist with the tax return submission and tax provision review, R&D, grants and other tax opportunities, including managing tax accounting (e.g. FBT and payroll tax). Contribute to the preparation of management, Corporate Plan and progress reports, including variance analysis to budget / forecast. Support the Finance Manager in developing and maintaining robust internal controls, governance, and financial policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Assist with continuous process improvements focusing on innovation, simplification, and automation to enhance process efficiency. Continuously review business processes and control configurations in the ERP to ensure compliance including bi-annual Workday testing and proactively identify and initiate process improvements. Provide financial analysis and handle ad hoc tasks as required. Partner with business stakeholders and provide timely information that supports strategic objectives. About you This is a great opportunity if you’re an experienced accountant with experience in an organisation going through transformation. CA Qualified or near completion. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in accounting within a large, complex environment. Experience from a large accounting firm, preferably one of the Big 4. Airport or aviation experience is highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or an equivalent business discipline. Exposure to Tier 1 ERP systems and transformations preferred. High attention to detail, with the ability to access data, analyse information, and apply business and professional knowledge. Excellent technical knowledge of accounting and the ability to apply it to WSI’s environment.
