The Role We are recruiting eight Pest Management Technicians to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend most of your time in the field, delivering programmed mosquito and pest control activities across Brisbane. You’ll be driving, towing trailers, operating equipment, and working outdoors in varied environments, including waterways and swamp areas to protect public health and minimise pest-related damage to assets. This role requires flexibility and quick thinking. Plans can change during the day, and you’ll need to respond to emerging mosquito and pest activity and work closely with your team to take immediate action. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll interact with the public and explain why treatments are being carried out. Key responsibilities include: performing mosquito control (approximately 80% of the role) and pest management activities using approved methods operating and maintaining pest control equipment, chemicals, and machinery safely and effectively inspecting properties, applying treatments, and maintaining accurate records in line with legislation communicating with the public and providing basic advice on pest control measures working collaboratively with your team and assisting with on-the-job training when required To be successful you will have: experience in pest control practices, including mosquito and rodent management, and using associated tools and machinery current Pest Management Technician Licence and C Class driver licence ability to work unsupervised, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing work demands strong communication and customer service skills to engage with the public confidently sound literacy skills for completing paperwork and following procedures experience handling pesticides in public areas (highly desirable) timber pest qualifications and experience using handheld technology (desirable) Benefits of working for Council include: flexible working hours, and flexible arrangements free gym and wellness centre award winning superannuation fund generous leave provisions competitive salary.
