Job Description Position Title: Senior GCP Platform Engineer Employment Type: Labour hire (Approx. 6 months, with potential to extend) Location: Melbourne or Bendigo Hourly Pay Rate: $1000 - $1100 per day (incl. 12% super) ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Senior GCP Platform Engineer to support the design, build, and enhancement of a large-scale cloud-based data platform. In this role, you will work across infrastructure engineering, data pipeline development, automation, and platform integration. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the data platform is scalable, secure, and operates at peak performance. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned GCP engineer who enjoys building modern data platform capabilities and driving engineering excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design, build, and maintain the infrastructure components that support the organisation’s GCP data platform Develop, optimise, and enhance data pipeline frameworks, tools, and accelerators Integrate the GCP data platform with internal systems, third-party tools, and enterprise services Work collaboratively with data architects, analysts, and platform teams to ensure adherence to standards and best practices Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation for environment provisioning and lifecycle management Troubleshoot technical issues, optimise performance, and support high availability across data workflows Contribute to ongoing improvements in engineering patterns, documentation, and platform maturity SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Required: 8–10 years’ engineering experience, with at least 3 years specialising in Google Cloud Platform Strong hands-on experience across GCP services including BigQuery, GCS, GKE, and Cloud Run Proven experience with Dbt for data modelling and transformation Proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, and pipeline development Strong Terraform experience for infrastructure-as-code and environment deployment Previous experience building scalable cloud data platform environments Desirable: Experience with Qlik CDC or other CDC technologies Familiarity with Argo Workflows Experience with Control-M workload automation Strong understanding of Kubernetes Exposure to Collibra or Experian data governance/data quality tools ELIGIBILITY Must have full Australian working rights Ability to commence at short notice is highly regarded Apply now or contact SOS Recruitment on 6260 8888 for a confidential discussion.
