Our client, Hillcroft Farms , a leading family-owned and diversified agricultural enterprise located in Lol Gray, WA , is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to support their cropping, piggery, and sheep operations. This is a full-time, permanent position offering stable employment within a progressive and reputable agricultural business. About the Role The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising mechanical systems used across the farm's cropping, livestock, feed systems, and general infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Maintain and monitor farm machinery and mechanical systems to ensure efficiency and reduce downtime. Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, conveyors, hydraulic systems, motors, compressors, feeding systems, augers, and agricultural machinery. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues across cropping, piggery, and sheep operations. - Perform calibrations, testing, and performance verification of machinery and equipment. Assist with equipment upgrades, engineering documentation, and technical interpretation of drawings and specifications. Provide input into machinery and component procurement, including technical evaluation of supplier options. Maintain thorough service logs, maintenance records, and documentation. - Ensure safe work practices, biosecurity compliance, and adherence to WHS guidelines. Support farm staff with equipment use, troubleshooting, and training where needed. Contribute to continuous improvement projects and equipment optimisation across farm operations. What We're Looking For Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or similar. - Minimum 3 years' experience in a mechanical technician or maintenance technician role. - Background in agriculture, food production, heavy machinery, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments is highly regarded. - Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures. - Ability to read drawings, diagrams, manuals, and technical specifications. - Strong problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude. - High attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship. - Effective communication and teamwork skills. - Ability to work independently and manage tasks during busy operational periods.
