Bairnsdale Engineering is seeking an experienced CAD Draftsperson to join our team and support the design and fabrication of rural and industrial buildings. This is a full-time, on-site role located at our Bairnsdale factory, with some flexibility in work hours available for the right candidate. Position Overview We’re seeking an experienced Structural Steel CAD Draftsperson, responsible for detailing and documentation for a diverse range of steel fabrication projects. Based at our Bairnsdale facility, this full-time, permanent role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and wants to see their designs come to life. Key Responsibilities Produce 3D structural steel shop drawings and fabrication details using Autodesk Advanced Steel. Accurately interpret engineering and architectural documentation. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and workshop teams to ensure accuracy and constructability. Prepare connection details, assemblies, and cutting lists for manufacturing. Maintain drafting quality, consistency, and compliance with company standards. Skills & Experience Proven experience (minimum 2–3 years) in structural steel drafting and detailing. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Advanced Steel; experience with Tekla highly regarded. A solid understanding of fabrication processes, welding symbols, and shop practices. Strong attention to detail, spatial awareness, and problem-solving ability. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
