We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Cook to join a small but busy takeaway food van located permanently in Stratford. The role involves preparing and cooking a range of fresh grill and fried foods, ensuring consistent quality and excellent customer service. This position is ideal for someone with a positive attitude, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. Regular Friday and Saturday shifts 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM are available, with the potential for additional days depending on experience and performance. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook fresh grill items including hamburgers and hot food Operate deep fryers for seafood and fried foods Follow menu guides to maintain product consistency and quality Comply with all food safety standards and hygiene practices Manage customer orders – counter, phone, and register duties Handle cash and provide accurate change Pack, wrap, and present takeaway food to a high standard Maintain a clean and safe work area, including cleaning grills, fryers, and food prep surfaces Dispose of waste responsibly and complete general cleaning duties Key Selection Criteria Experience in a cook or food service role preferred Food Safety Certificate (Do Food Safely or equivalent) required Good understanding of food allergens and gluten-free requirements Ability to work independently and as part of a small team Reliable, punctual, and customer-focused Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills What’s on Offer Regular Friday and Saturday shifts (with potential for more) Supportive small-team environment Opportunity to work in a busy, community-loved local business Hands-on role with variety and customer interaction If you’re a friendly, energetic cook looking for regular weekend work in Stratford, we encourage you to apply today.
