Job Description Project Manager – GIS & Data Visualisation About the Client A major Government Department delivering complex projects and technical work packages within a PRINCE2 environment, supporting Business Solution Delivery (BSD) and Information Technology Branch (ITB) governance. This role is pivotal in ensuring successful project outcomes and benefits realisation. About the Role Seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a GIS-focused project, delivering geospatial and data visualisation solutions as part of a major safety programme. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from start-up through to closing, adhering to PRINCE2, Agile, and MSP governance frameworks. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and manage project activities and resources to deliver outcomes within agreed budget and timeframes. Deliver software development and integration projects, including technology delivery and data visualisation solutions. Produce project documentation in line with government policies and procedures, within Agile, PRINCE2, and MSP governance frameworks. Ensure appropriate project governance and assurance activities are in place. Develop and implement communication, organisational change management, and benefit realisation plans. Liaise closely with diverse stakeholders across business and IT teams, including senior management and project boards. Manage risks, issues, conflicts, change requests, priorities, project budget and finances, and resource allocations. Develop and maintain project schedules. Oversee requirements gathering, scope definition, and documentation during project initiation. Provide direction and support for the project team. Deliver timely and accurate progress reporting to stakeholders. Ensure project administration complies with internal governance and compliance practices. Achieve delivery of projects/work packages to agreed scope, schedule, quality, and budget baselines. Maintain quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) if applicable. Perform other duties as required. Technical Skills & Experience Proven project management experience in large, complex organisations. Strong knowledge of GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapbox, MapInfo). Experience with data visualisation tools and implementing geospatial solutions. Expertise in data integration, cleansing, compliance, and dataset creation. Familiarity with APIs, cloud platforms, and software delivery processes. Recent experience delivering multiple application/COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) projects in a complex Agile environment. Experience in software development projects. Current and varied experience across public and private sectors is highly desirable. Core Competencies Risk and issue management. Schedule and financial management. Scope and cost control. Stakeholder engagement and communication. Mandatory Requirements PRINCE2 Foundation certification (Practitioner preferred; Foundation must fulfil all course requirements except Practitioner exam). Experience in government or large-scale environments is desirable but not mandatory. Proficiency with Microsoft Project (desirable). Location & Work Arrangement Primary location: Brisbane CBD (city-based), with co-location of business and IT teams. Future projects may require work from Castle Land office. Timeline & Deliverables 6-Month initial contract role with a January 2026 start available with multiple long-term extensions.
