Australian Outback Spectacular’s Heartland is seeking a versatile male performer (able to play 40–50 years of age) to take on not one, but two iconic Outback characters — Reg and Bazza. As a Lead Performer, you’ll carry the show from start to finish through heartfelt dialogue, authentic storytelling, and powerful vocals that bring the spirit of the Outback to life. Character Synopsis ‘REG’ Reg sits at the centre of Heartlands story, the land written into his face and soul, running their cattle station that has been in his family for four generations. Reg establishes a strong emotional rapport with the audience and manages a sense of truthfulness and quiet emotion throughout. However, the current drought is particularly severe and their economic situation perilous. Reg has a huge heart, a dry sense of humour and an innate sense of optimism. The depth of this will become tested during the show. In contrast, his wife Marge is the practical backbone of the farm. ‘BAZZA’ Bazza is the quintessential local Publican who joins Reg and the team as the resident ‘Muster’ Cook. Bazza has a taste for Outback humour, prides himself on his extravagant (vile) rissoles and surprisingly, a skill of singing Italian Opera! He Has built an epic barbecue, laden with all the bells and whistles, including a fully rotating hills hoist delivery system! Bazza portrays a comedic role – and we are looking for a good character actor, ideally with an aptitude for physical comedy Key Responsibilities • Performing to a professional standard with consistency and authenticity in every show • Maintaining equipment, props, and performance devices to the highest safety levels • Treating all animals with care and respect • Upholding show design standards for costume, makeup, and presentation • Participating in publicity and promotional activities • Maintaining a high standard of vocal and singing technique What We’re Looking For Got the talent and charisma to win over a crowd? You’ll bring: • Demonstrated professional experience in the entertainment industry • Exceptional vocal technique in both speaking and singing • Ability to portray a male character aged 40–50 • Previous lead or supporting performance experience (an advantage) • Strong improvisation, acting, and physical performance skills • Flexibility to perform multiple roles • Availability to work between 3:45pm–10:00pm and 09:00- 3:30 on Sundays
