We are looking to expand on our existing Board and are seeking two individuals with identified skills sets required to continue to successfully govern the organisation. We are specifically seeking a Clinical and Legal Specialist to complement our existing Board members. Key Responsibilities As a Non-Executive Board Director, you will work as an active member of the Board to: Set strategic direction to ensure services remain person-centred, accessible, connected, effective, and safe Participate in Board and Committee meetings, contributing expertise to robust and constructive discussions Provide oversight of organisational performance and financial sustainability Champion inclusive, culturally safe, and psychologically safe environments for staff, clients, and communities Support continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice in governance, quality, and risk Represent MiCare in the community, including events and service visit Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to Board evaluation and succession planning Who we’re looking for We’re seeking a Board Director who brings: Clinical health or legal expertise with a focus on aged care Ethical, independent decision-making Ability to interpret financial reports and understand governance frameworks Proven ability to foster equitable, safe, and inclusive culture Willingness to question, challenge, and contribute collectively Empathy, strong communication, and respectful engagement Business acumen and alignment with MiCare’s mission This role requires a monthly time commitment of 10-12 hours including bi-monthly Board meetings (two in-person events in Melbourne) and bi-monthly Board Committee meeting. Preferred experience & skills Previous Board or governance experience in not-for-profit or related sectors Clinical experience with a particular emphasis on aged care Legal experience with a focus on aged care Experience in governance, quality, and risk Skills in clinical expertise, legal, stakeholder engagement, or business development Mandatory requirements: Current and active membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or equivalent, and willingness to complete relevant governance training. Ability to satisfy all relevant background checks including Police Check, Working with Children, NDIS Worker Screening, Aged Care Banning Orders. Why Work for MiCare?
