About the Company My client is a leading precision engineering and manufacturing company who have established themselves as experts in the design and manufacture of high-quality injection moulds and press tools. With a loyal and diverse client base, they operate from a large and well-equipped precision engineering facility. The Role This pivotal role involves leading, supporting and directing staff to effectively manage, maintain and deliver efficient outcomes and objectives within agreed timescales, all within an open, collaborative and safe working environment. You will inspire a culture of respect, productivity, and continuous improvement, ensuring exceptional results for manufacturing operations. Outstanding communication skills, decisive decision-making, and the ability to empower and motivate the team are vital for success in this position. Key Responsibilities: Lead and support a diverse team of toolmakers, technicians and apprentices, promoting collaboration and professional development Provide clear direction to staff to ensure smooth daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow management Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration and repair of all tools and equipment while upholding high standards of quality and safety Oversee the design, fabrication, modification and inspection of tools and dies, ensuring compliance with manufacturing specifications Maintain accurate inventory records and implement strong tool control procedures to enhance efficiency Collaborate effectively with customers, engineering and quality teams to ensure tooling meets or exceeds required standards Champion continuous improvement initiatives to refine machine shop / tool room processes and boost team performance Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of responsibility, ownership and vigilance Skills and experience Proven leadership skills with a track record of inspiring teams and achieving exceptional outcomes Effective in decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution within a shop floor manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of tooling, machining processes and manufacturing equipment Practical knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC programming, ensuring precision and effectiveness in tool design and modifications Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging and motivating others Apprenticeship trained and/or recognised Engineering qualifications preferred Recognised for integrity, respect and the ability to foster positive relationships while driving team success are essential traits N.B.
