This leading independent school based in the eastern suburbs are seeking a receptionist who enjoys being the friendly first point of contact in a school community. This receptionist will be the person students, parents and staff see first, the one who knows names, keeps things moving and brings a steady, approachable presence to the front desk There’s also plenty of scope for the role to grow. If you’re someone who likes to take initiative and get involved across different areas of the school, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your responsibilities over time. Duties of the role Act as the first point of contact for students, parents and visitors, ensuring everyone who arrives onsite is greeted professionally and directed promptly. Answer incoming calls and enquiries, providing accurate information and escalating where needed. Manage daily student attendance, including late arrivals, early departures and absences, ensuring all records are kept up to date and any anomalies are followed up. Work closely with the wellbeing team to flag any concerns or patterns you notice through student interactions or attendance. Provide support to the school nurse when they are unavailable, including basic first-aid admin, student sign-ins and communication with parents. Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail and maintain smooth front-of-house processes. Assist with maintaining accurate school records and student information, ensuring compliance with internal policies. Support the setup and pack-down of school events, helping the broader team ensure everything runs smoothly Provide support to wider areas of the school on an ad hoc basis The ideal candidate Experience working in an administrative or customer-focused role, ideally within a school or the broader education sector Strong attention to detail, with the confidence to question information if something doesn’t look right Clear and professional communicator, able to engage with people at all levels Able to prioritise, problem-solve and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment Customer-focused with a positive, can-do attitude Strong computer skills across Microsoft Office, with TASS (or similar student management system) experience preferred but not essential A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required Tidal Recruitment Partners have been engaged to recruit this role.
