PAID to study a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology Unique opportunity to provide mechanical maintenance of Council's Fleet and Plant Work under skilled tradespeople City of Parramatta has partnered with My Gateway and we are looking for an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. As a part of the 4-year apprenticeship, you will complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. As part of the apprenticeship, some of your responsibilities may include: Assist qualified mechanics in carrying out allocated work programs in preparing, repairing and maintaining plant and mechanical equipment. Assist with diagnosing faults and carry out repairs utilising appropriate work practices, techniques, tools and equipment. Maintain the mechanical workshop, ensure the area is in a clean and safe condition. Adapt to changing priorities and undertake other tasks as directed. Show initiative by providing feedback and input on improvements in operating procedures, programs, and work schedules. Learn and demonstrate an awareness of cost and ensure that operations are undertaken efficiently with minimal waste. Ensure correct completion of all necessary administrative functions (electronic or paper-based) associated with the department. To be considered, you must: Hold a current NSW Drivers License. Have a current White Card (Or willing to obtain). The capacity to undertake the physical requirements of the position and area of specialisation Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning a hands-on trade. Written and verbal communication skills. Computer literate and ability to effectively use a computer or iPad.
