Ensure the provision of an efficient and effective Histopathology service by organising and supervising the technical staff of the Main Laboratory. Ensure the production of high-quality slides for microscopic examination within a minimum time frame. Liaise closely with laboratory manager, medical staff and with other sections of the division and directorate. Apply scientific knowledge towards the performance, analysis and troubleshooting of standard diagnostic procedures including cut-up, H&E slide production and special stains. Assist in the processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissue specimens. About You You are a skilled and detail-oriented professional with strong technical or scientific expertise in Anatomical Pathology , ready to contribute to the delivery of high-quality histopathology services at Flinders Medical Centre. Whether appointed as a Medical Scientist (MeS2) or Technical Officer (TGO3) , you bring precision, leadership, and a deep understanding of laboratory standards to ensure accurate and efficient diagnostic outcomes in a fast-paced clinical environment. In this role, you will bring: Educational/Vocational Qualifications Qualifications relevant to your appointment — either a Bachelor of Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent for MeS2, or a Diploma/Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical discipline for TGO3. Technical & Supervisory Skills Proven ability to supervise and motivate laboratory teams, perform and troubleshoot complex diagnostic procedures, and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy under pressure. Experience & Professional Expertise Extensive experience in histopathology, including tissue processing, sectioning, and specialised staining techniques, alongside sound knowledge of ISO, NATA, and quality assurance standards. Knowledge & Communication Strong understanding of histotechnology, laboratory operations, and safety principles, with excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to liaise effectively with pathologists, managers, and multidisciplinary staff.
