About the role As a Disability Inclusion Mission Specialist , this is your opportunity to lead projects and initiatives that embed disability inclusion and mental health into the heart of our integrated mission – ensuring our communities, programs, and practices reflect the gifts, needs, and lived experiences of all people. Reporting to the Intercultural and Disability Inclusion Team Lead, this permanent full-time role is based in THQ Blackburn . ( May require some interstate travel) . This role can be based anywhere in Australia, national applications are welcome (Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney) . How you will make an impact Promote disability inclusion and mental health awareness through faith-based training, resources and support Advocate for compassionate and stigma-free responses to disability and mental illness across The Salvation Army and the wider community Support the development and rollout of a disability inclusion framework for integrated mission engagement Partner with leaders to strengthen a culture of disability inclusion, offering coaching, resources and local support Build partnerships with faith leaders, mental health providers and community organisations while contributing to national and team initiatives What you will bring A Tertiary qualification in disability, social work, counselling, theology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Demonstrated experience in working respectfully and collaboratively with vulnerable people who have lived experience of disability and/or mental health challenges An understanding of Christian theology and pastoral sensitivity Familiarity with trauma-informed care approaches A current Employee Working with Children’s Check A current drivers licence (desirable) What we offer The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including : Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.
