Role Overview This is a generalist Solutions Architect role requiring strong industry knowledge and experience across cloud security, SaaS solutions, and operational technologies. The candidate will provide architectural oversight, technical due diligence, and practical solution design for APAMs cloud-based initiatives. Key Responsibilities Cloud Security & SaaS Architecture Design, evaluate, and govern APAMs use of cloud-based solutions with a focus on security, compliance, and business fit-for-purpose. Provide architectural oversight for Azure-based infrastructure and SaaS applications. Conduct technical due diligence for new and existing third-party cloud applications. Understand OT environments and how they integrate with traditional IT infrastructure to leverage operational capabilities. Support implementation of a SaaS-based procurement platform. Contribute to an aviation project involving OT (cameras) for apron gate monitoring, feeding data into vendor tools for turnaround and baggage wait time analysis. Operational Technology (OT) Integration Understand OT environments and how they integrate with traditional IT infrastructure to leverage operational capabilities. Initial Projects Support implementation of a SaaS-based procurement platform. Contribute to an aviation project involving OT (cameras) for apron gate monitoring, feeding data into vendor tools for turnaround and baggage wait time analysis. Industry Experience Background in logistics, utilities, or aviation industries, with exposure to both operational and corporate environments. Personal Attributes Personable and collaborative, able to build trust and influence stakeholders. Practical and pragmatic approach to solution design, balancing theory with real-world constraints. Ability to highlight risks and provide options analysis. Comfortable establishing foundational standards where none exist, without letting theory impede delivery. You will have at least 10 years of experience defining and delivering ICT strategies, application roadmaps, and technology solutions. This is initially a 6-month contract engagement, with a high likelihood of further extensions for the right candidate. The role is located in the Melbourne, Western Suburbs, with onsite work as a preference, but hybrid arrangements may be negotiable. Experience working across enterprise platforms, databases, middleware, and infrastructure is essential, combined with a proven ability to engage senior stakeholders, business leaders, and delivery teams to achieve architectural alignment and adoption. Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills are required, and relevant qualifications in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline are highly desirable. Deep understanding of application architecture, integration design, data flows, and system interoperability. Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks, governance models, and design methodologies (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL). Experience working across enterprise platforms, databases, middleware, and infrastructure. Deliver architecture artefacts including high-level, low-level solution designs. Lead and participate in Proof of Concepts and innovation activities to assess emerging technologies. Meet deliverables within tight time constraints whilst maintaining expected quality standards. Ensure compliance with technology standards, security policies, and architectural principles. Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and delivery teams to achieve architectural alignment and adoption. Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
