The Opportunity You will be working from our facility at Melbourne Airport in a senior management role which is part of a smaller management team with an integral part of the production process. This MRO has been in operation for almost 10 years and currently provides aircraft wheel component maintenance to one of Australia's largest commercial airlines! As a Maintenance Manager, you will become part of a strong multi-cultural team with approximately 21 experienced colleagues reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager within one of the world’s leading Aircraft Wheel Maintenance Repair Organisations (MRO) that is approved by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority - CASA and the European Aviation Safety Authority - EASA. The primary tasks: Lead and manage the maintenance team, ensuring sufficient, competent personnel are available to meet production and compliance requirements. Ensure compliance with CASA/EASA Part 145, MOE, OHS, and internal procedures, including proper certification and secure record-keeping of all maintenance work. Drive quality and safety standards, responding to audit findings and ensuring all work meets regulatory and internal quality expectations. Oversee tools, equipment, and facilities, ensuring availability, calibration, and proper use to support efficient operations. Plan and monitor production, set clear objectives, assign tasks, and track output to meet delivery schedules and performance targets. Support training and development, identifying needs, coordinating internal/external training, and maintaining competence records for all maintenance staff. We seek a team member who can identify with the description below : Minimum two years of leadership experience in a CASA/EASA Part 145 maintenance or repair organization. Solid background in aeronautical product or aircraft maintenance, with proven competency in a responsible role. Degree in a technical, engineering, or related field is an advantage. Strong understanding of CASA/EASA Part 145 regulations and maintenance procedures. Proficient in MS Office. Familiar with LEAN methodologies such as 5S, GEMBA, and Visualisation. Skills and Attributes: Proven leadership experience in a maintenance or production environment, with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members. Strong focus on continuous improvement—able to identify inefficiencies and suggest practical solutions. Committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment through clear communication and consistent enforcement of company policies. Skilled in planning and managing team schedules, including vacation planning, to ensure operational continuity. Hands-on experience with production tools, machinery, and safety procedures.
