Zoom Recruitment are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Fitter to join our team in a fast-paced steel recycling environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving mechanical problems, ensuring equipment reliability, and contributing to continuous improvement in a heavy industrial setting. Key Responsibilities Carry out breakdown repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy industrial machinery and conveyor systems to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency. Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults , implementing effective strategies to prevent future issues. Work closely with other trades and departments to improve machine performance and reliability. Maintain and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems , offering practical solutions and technical input. Use welding and fabrication skills as required to address maintenance challenges and extend equipment life. Follow all workplace health and safety standards, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to achieve maintenance goals. Restricted electrical knowledge will be highly regarded. About You Hold an Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Maintenance Fitting (or equivalent qualification). Have proven experience in breakdown repair and maintenance of heavy industrial machinery, particularly with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills , with a proactive approach to maintenance and reliability. Welding experience is an advantage (or willingness to develop these skills). Excellent teamwork and communication abilities . Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and quality work standards.
