Your new role Your new role will see you reporting to the Production Manager, working from 8.15 am (38-hour week, start at either time) Monday to Friday. As a QC Assistant, your new role will involve inspecting tankers and coordinating the scheduling of assessment and inspection stages for the team. Your role will be a mixture of office and production based, with more weighting likely to be in office. Your typical daily tasks will see you; Assigning stages of quality inspection for the team, with consistent communication across various internal departments (production, stores, engineering) and externally (customers, repairers); Visual ability based on proven experience to adhere to checking specifically stainless steel, mild steel and alloy defects, cracks, misalignments etc; Viewing components and assessing the pre-determined quality inspection checklist mandated for each part or fully completed tanker; Ensure timely completion of all tanker checks, and deadlines met; Assess reworks and investigate weld issues as necessary; and Safety first culture, have a solid understanding of saftey protocols; What you need to succeed Qualified Mechanical or Process Engineer with proven background of 3-5 years in a metal manufacturing / fabrication environment; Reside local to Melbourne’s North and looking for a long-term opportunity to progress in an esteemed organisation; Capability to work in a busy role, demonstrating clear abilities to communicate well to all departments & relationship build as needed; Willingness to complete a National Police Check; Intermediate MS Office & computer literacy skills, ability to work off a pre-populated Ipad to adhere to quality inspections and reporting; and Full competency to visually assess welds and ensure part completions, and fully completed tankers are assessed at a very high standard.
