THE ROLE As a Senior Project Manager, you lead with purpose, driving operational excellence and delivering projects that exceed expectations. Partnering closely with the Project Management team, you take full ownership of daily operations, shape long-term business strategies, forecast resource needs, and ensure seamless alignment with the project pipeline provided by the Contracts Manager. You actively monitor and implement compliance and drive continuous improvement across all operational activities. Overseeing a diverse portfolio of projects across Sydney, you lead the team in delivering comprehensive roadworks, including drainage, roadway construction and resurfacing, footway renewal, paving, pavements, kerb and gutter works, traffic signals, street lighting, electrical, and landscaping. Plans and allocates resources to deliver projects in line with contract requirements. Provides direction, support, and oversight to Project Managers. Acts as escalation point for issues outside Project Manager authority. Approves daily estimates, collaborates with allocator regarding skilled staff. Ensures all operational activities comply with safety, quality, environmental, and budgetary standards. Oversee operational performance through regular site reviews, progress reporting, and with field teams. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operational processes. Prepare outcome reports and support the implementation of change management initiatives. Maintain and improve compliance with ISO9001 and environmental standards. Analyse and review labour hire costs and project performance for upcoming works. Conduct onsite audits, including safety plans and resource utilisation. Complete statutory and compliance reporting. Maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders including clients, regulators, and major subcontractors. THE ESSENTIALS Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent trade and leadership experience Proven experience as an Operations Manager, Construction Manager, or Senior Project Manager in civil infrastructure. Strong focus on safety and quality, with exceptional attention to detail. Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach, mentor Comprehensive understanding of safety management, with a proven ability to embed safe practices into daily operations. Solid practical knowledge of project planning, resource allocation, and cost control within civil works. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Positive, proactive, and results-driven attitude.
