Summary Yornaning Farms is a large-scale, integrated farming enterprise comprising three core operations: Piggery: 400 sows with expansion plans to 600 sows, plus an additional neighbouring piggery lease, bringing the total to 900 sows requiring 7 FTE. Broadacre Cropping: Growing canola, lupins, oaten hay, barley, oats, and wheat across 3,900ha, currently operating with 2 FTE and seasonal casual workers. Stockfeed Manufacturing: Supplying piggery, dairy farms, beef feedlot, and sheep pellets, with an annual throughput of around 10,000t, requiring 3 FTE at peak times. We are currently seeking a skilled Agricultural and Horticultural Mobile Plant Operator to join our team at Yornaning Farms. This full-time, permanent role involves operating a range of agricultural machinery and plant to support crop and livestock production across various seasonal operations. About the Role The successful candidate will operate mobile agricultural plant to assist with essential on-farm activities such as soil preparation, seeding, harvesting, spraying, spreading, and the handling of feed and straw for livestock systems. You will work as part of a team in a busy mixed farming operation and must be confident using large machinery and equipment. Key Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include: Operating tractors, seeders, sprayers, spreaders, and harvesters for broadacre cropping operations. Operating mobile plant equipment (e.g., front-end loaders, telehandlers, forklifts) to move feed, hay, fertiliser, straw, and other materials used in piggery and field operations. Using plant and machinery for land preparation tasks such as cultivation, rolling, ploughing, and fertiliser/lime spreading. Assisting in handling, transportation, and loading/unloading of farm inputs and produce. Conducting pre-start checks and performing basic routine maintenance on all mobile plant and equipment. Calibrating and adjusting equipment for accurate application of seed, chemicals, and fertiliser. Maintaining detailed records of machinery use and maintenance logs. Observing all farm safety protocols and using plant and machinery in accordance with workplace health and safety (WHS) standards. Collaborating with farm managers, agronomists, and team members to meet cropping and livestock productivity goals. Skills, Qualifications and Experience Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: Hold an AQF Certificate II or equivalent, with at least 1.5 years (20 hrs/week) of relevant post-qualification experience; OR Hold an AQF Certificate III or higher, with at least 1 year (20 hrs/week) of relevant post-qualification experience; OR Have at least 1 year of full-time (38 hrs/week) relevant work experience operating agricultural mobile plant and machinery. Skills and experience: Demonstrated experience operating agricultural mobile plant such as tractors, sprayers, seeders, and harvesters. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out basic servicing and maintenance of machinery. Familiarity with modern agricultural equipment, including GPS-guided or auto-steer systems (preferred). Good understanding of safe operating procedures in agricultural settings. Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in variable conditions. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
