We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English to lead our large, dynamic department and help shape an outstanding English programme across the school. About the Role You will oversee a thriving English Department of 22 dedicated staff including part time team members. From 2026 you will be supported by two Assistant Heads of Department , allowing you to focus on strategic leadership, curriculum development, and staff mentoring. The position includes a 0.5 FTE teaching load , ensuring ongoing engagement in high quality classroom practice. This is a full time, permanent position commencing January 2026 . Required Experience To be successful in this role: You will need to demonstrate one of the following: • At least two to three years of experience as a Department Leader , such as Head of English, Assistant Head of English, Coordinator or equivalent, • Six to seven years of experience as an English teacher with proven capability to lead, mentor, and innovate. Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and a genuine commitment to student centred learning are essential.
