The position plays a key role in delivering high level engineering technical services to the Works Team and the Infrastructure Services Directorate including planning, design, contract management, construction and maintenance of infrastructure and other civil works, including for Council roads, drainage, bridges, traffic and associated Council assets. Some specific tasks include: Undertaking/managing activities for individual projects delivered by Council resources including desktop assessments, concept designs, preconstruction activities, set up of work order, electronic collection of data for GIS layers, site survey, location of services, geotechnical testing, road pavement design, geometric design, referral to local traffic committee if required, ecological assessment, environmental planning and assessment, construction methodology, cost estimate, project approval, ordering of materials, job package preparation, tender document preparation, and responding to customer enquiries. Ensuring all relevant legislation is complied with, public risk is minimised, and due diligence is exercised using a risk management approach to deliver road maintenance activities and to develop programs of work for capital projects. Responding to customer correspondence promptly and in accordance with Council's corporate guidelines. Investigating problems as they occur, propose solutions with respect to customer complaints and emergencies.
