Key Responsibilities Preparation of high-quality food according to menu plans. To cook and season south Indian dishes (Sambar, Rasam, Pongal, Dosai, Idly, Parotta, different types of rice etc and other south Indian sweets and snacks) Work with specialized cooking equipment, such as the Dosa plate (Griddle), deep fryer etc Preparation for cooking the menu items, such as trimming, chopping, cutting, mixing, frying, baking, grilling, blanching, portioning food and making them ready to be served. Ability to operate kitchen equipment. Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment Responsible for quality control of all dishes to ensure consistent taste, flavour, presentation and delivery. Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements Ensuring that the service line is fully stocked and immaculately presented Maintaining an effective operation of the kitchen. Ensuring strict compliance with hygiene and food safety requirements. May plan menu and estimate food requirements. Attention to detail. Training other kitchen staff and apprentices Qualifications and Experience Relevant commercial cookery qualification and industry experience Previous experience as a Cook in an Indian restaurant, ideally with exposure to South Indian vegetarian cuisine Strong knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients, and traditional cooking methods Ability to maintain consistency in taste, quality and presentation during busy service Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures How to Apply If you are passionate about South Indian vegetarian cuisine and would like to grow your career with a respected restaurant, we would love to hear from you.
