This is a secondment/fixed term position for 12 months and can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint . About the role As a Senior Front End Developer at Essential Energy, you’ll be responsible for designing and developing highly scalable, responsive web applications for enterprise systems. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with Product Owners, Project Managers, Backend, and UX teams to deliver outstanding user experiences. Your expertise in modern frameworks and best practices will help drive innovation, maintain compliance, and ensure our digital products are robust, secure, and accessible. Key responsibilities include: Design, develop, and implement high-quality front-end solutions using agile practices and defined frameworks. Build responsive and scalable user interfaces, ensuring alignment with overall design and strategic objectives. Promote automation controls for development, source control, release, and support activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet business needs and enhance user experience. Monitor solution health, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements in application stability and performance. About You You are an experienced front-end developer with a passion for creating intuitive, visually appealing, and accessible web applications. You thrive in agile environments, bring strong technical skills in React, Next.js, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and have a strategic mindset for solving complex problems. Your communication skills enable you to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you’re committed to continuous learning and improvement. To be successful, you will have: Extensive experience working with React or similar frameworks, Next.js, and proficiency in UI development with modern JavaScript (ES6) and TypeScript. Skilled in HTML and CSS frameworks such as Tailwind or CSS-in-JS, with a strong command of UI/UX design and design systems. Strong working experience with Azure services for frontend deployment and scalability. Hands-on knowledge of performance optimization, security, and accessibility best practices. Experience with front end testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright), consuming REST APIs. Prior working experience with google maps or similar mapping solutions in a web set up is highly desirable but not mandatory. Required Qualifications Bachelor Degree of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
