About the role Mater Pathology is pleased to offer an exciting internal opportunity for professional development and leadership growth. We are seeking a Collection Supervisor to join our team on 12-month maximum term contract commencing in December, covering maternity leave. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career, providing leadership and oversight to the Phlebotomy team across our Collection Rooms. As Collection Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the professional and accurate collection of specimens, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer service. You will also champion best practices in specimen identification and data integrity throughout the handling process. Salary range: $41.60 - $45.81 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits What you'll be doing Specifically, your responsibilities will include: Monitor and promote the necessity to meticulously identify specimens, accurately transfer data throughout the handling process and highlight the serious consequences of misidentification and mishandling. Participate in clinical risk assessments and investigations as required. Engage and participate in clinical meetings to ensure the service meets customer expectations. Monitor and coach staff regarding collection error rates to ensure excellence in patient care. Supervisory responsibility includes training of team members, coordination of workflow processes and responsibility for quality of output of the Phlebotomy team Participation in performance reviews and ongoing performance management of subordinate staff will be required. Recognizes and addresses inefficiencies in service provision, and continuously improves business processes. Strong customer experience background to manage the ongoing relationship with clinical and nonclinical stakeholders . Deliver customer experience of a high standard by ensuring a professional appearance and positive personal interactions. Demonstrates a high level of oral and written communication skills to ensure staff and customer needs are met. Demonstrated advanced data analysis and computer skills in laboratory systems and MS Office suite. Contributes to operational decision-making and accountable for financial stewardship. Ensure adequate stock and equipment management processes are in place. Undertake purchases as required through appropriate financial management practices. About you To be considered suitable for this position you must possess the following: A background in customer service and /or >5 years’ experience in a phlebotomy role Driver’s license is essential for management of community phlebotomists and offsite staff Certificate IV in Training and Assessment desirable but not essential Certificate III in Phlebotomy Management/Supervisor experience with a staff of 35 Why join us?
