Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant (Grader) Operator / Labourer to join our Rural Roads Crew within the Infrastructure and Environment Department. About the Role Reporting to the Rural Roads Supervisor, this role is responsible for operating plant and machinery, particularly graders and assisting with the maintenance and construction of rural roads and associated infrastructure across the Shire. The position also involves a range of labouring and maintenance duties to support the effective delivery of Council’s rural works programs. What We Offer Full Time- Stream B- Level 5 -$63,000.00 per annum Superannuation. 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading) Monthly RDO (13 per year) Personal (Sick) Leave Remote Area Housing Allowance Camp Allowance Key Responsibilities Operate graders and other heavy plant in accordance with licence and competency requirements. Perform final trim grading and formation maintenance of unsealed roads. Conduct pre-start checks, maintenance, and defect reporting for all machinery. Carry out general labouring duties, including road and street maintenance, sign installation, slashing, and litter collection. Assist with kerb and channel repairs, linemarking, and other construction activities as required. Adhere to Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental standards at all times. Work cooperatively as part of the Rural Roads Crew and assist other teams as needed. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience in grader operation, including final trim work. Sound knowledge of civil construction, local government works, and rural road maintenance. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required. Mandatory requirements: Manual C Class Driver’s Licence Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence Construction White Card (prior to commencement) Grader Operator Certification and Formation Grading of Unsealed Roads Certification Current Police Clearance Desirable qualifications: Traffic Control / Traffic Management Accreditation Heavy Combination (HC) Licence Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations) or equivalent Plant operator competencies across a range of machinery.
