As a WSI Trainee, you’ll work alongside our amazing team in a supportive learning environment that integrates on-the-job practical experience and formal training. The traineeship will elevate your level of skills, confidence and longer-term employability, plus you’ll be making a real contribution to the future of Sydney’s new airport in Sydney’s cultural heartland. How it works: You’ll commit to completing a Traineeship for a 12-month period, commencing Feb 2026. The Traineeship is designed for students who have recently completed Year 12 or equivalent. You’ll gain hands-on experience in an airport operations environment, supported by a structured learning pathway. WSI will support your learning journey by integrating formal training with TAFE during the traineeship. You’ll receive membership to WSI’s Early Careers Network. We’ll assign you a buddy/mentor to provide informal guidance and support throughout the Traineeship. Key responsibilities: As a Trainee in the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) which is the ‘nerve centre’ of the airport, you’ll work closely with the team to support a broad range of areas including airport systems, procedures, service contracts and other operational projects. Work closely with various internal and external teams in delivering various technology systems, assisting with testing, process development and creating training guides. Assist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate and actively participate in various operational trials to support the successful delivery of airport operations. Provide general administrative support to the Airport Operations team as required. Participate in formal training. Contribute to the functional delivery within the AOCC and support other key operational areas throughout the airport. Support the Airport Operations leaders in delivering service contracts. Contribute to the team and broader objectives through involvement in activities that support the airport’s delivery phase. About you: This is a great opportunity if you’re about to complete Year 12 (or equivalent) and have strong interest in aviation, with a desire to learn how airport operations are managed behind the scenes. You have a passion for a future in Aviation and airport operations. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages. Highly motivated to learn and achieve great results. Ability to foster trusted relationships & exceptional customer service with colleagues and stakeholders. Must have a sense of initiative by being a self-starter, with a proactive approach to tasks. High attention to detail, checking all tasks for accuracy and quality, seeking improvements where possible. Be a flexible and adaptable team player who enjoys a challenge. You’ll need your own transport to attend our offices in Liverpool, Luddenham and Badgerys Creek.
