As an Impairment Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for proactively managing, assessing, and determining impairment benefit claims, as well as handling related disputes. You’ll ensure all assessments and decisions align with the Accident Compensation Act 1985, the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013, and WorkSafe guidelines, including the Online Claims Manual. You’ll also ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, policy timeframes, and performance measures. This will be a full time, 18 month contract position based in the Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Engage with all stakeholders to effectively manage an impairment benefit claim from end to end, including completing liability assessments, attending and participating in ACCS (where required) Draft medical panel submissions, Independent Impairment Assessor consultation/report requests and entitlement to impairment benefit calculation and determinations, Review responses and process payments for any impairment benefits given. Ensure IB claims are managed in accordance with legislation, guideline, protocols and in accordance with WorkSafe scheme objectives. Maintain internal relationships and demonstrate teamwork and commitment to solving operational challenges within and across teams. ABOUT YOU Experience in workers compensation/personal injury claims management Accreditation through WorkSafe AMA guide training Sound experience in impairment benefit management, assessment and determination Experience with Victorian workers compensation disputation and litigation processes Full understanding of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (AC Act) and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRC Act) Comprehensive knowledge of the American Medical Association’s Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, fourth edition (AMA4) and any subsequent editions as required and its applicability/modification to impairment benefits claims based on Victorian worker compensation legislation WHAT WE OFFER We stand together as equals.
