Operated by The Link Youth Health Service, headspace provides free and confidential mental health support for young people aged 12–25, ensuring access to safe, inclusive, and responsive care. The Position The Access Team Clinician engages, assesses, and coordinates care for young people accessing headspace Hobart. The role includes intake, screening, and biopsychosocial assessments, risk management, brief interventions, and warm referrals to internal and external services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the clinician contributes to case reviews, treatment planning, and youth mental health promotion activities. Key responsibilities: Conduct intake, screening, and biopsychosocial assessments. Identify and manage risks; develop safety or action plans. Provide brief interventions and coordinate care pathways. Participate in team meetings and case reviews. Support community engagement and youth mental health initiatives. Mandatory requirements: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, or Mental Health Nursing. Eligibility for registration with AHPRA or membership with AASW. Experience or strong interest in youth, community, or primary mental health. Excellent engagement and communication skills with young people and families. Commitment to collaborative, ethical, and recovery-focused practice. Desirable: Current registration with AHPRA or full membership with AASW. Experience in youth mental health, community, or primary care settings. Ability to develop and facilitate group-based interventions. Experience in the not-for-profit or public health sector. Selection Criteria Essential Ability to conduct comprehensive intake, screening, and biopsychosocial assessments. Experience in risk assessment (suicide, self-harm, violence) and safety/action planning. Experience providing brief interventions, counselling, and treatment planning for mild to moderate concerns. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of mental health presentations and evidence-based interventions. Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills. Proficiency in clinical software and Microsoft Office. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Understanding of social, cultural, and developmental factors affecting youth mental health. Desirable Experience in youth mental health or community settings. Experience delivering group-based interventions. Experience in the not-for-profit or public health sector. Demonstrated adaptability, professionalism, and ethical practice.
