If you are attracted to life on an iconic island, you won't want to miss this opportunity! The Position Ochre Medical Centre King Island is located in the island’s largest town, Currie. It is a small practice with two streams of doctors and serves a resident population of around 1,400 plus all of the visitors who regularly come to the island. The practice is the only medical centre on King Island, located right next door to the hospital, which offers emergency and acute care (ATS CAT1-5 patients) and a mix of outpatient services, including mental health, physiotherapy and podiatry. This is a hands-on, full-scope role with real impact. You will work a minimum of 9 sessions in general practice each week and participate in the hospital VMO roster. Taking over an existing patient base, you can expect to see 25 patients per day and still have time to go for a surf. You will receive on- and off-site operational and clinical management support. The practice is open Monday to Friday plus Saturday mornings. Hospital on-call is on a 24 hour rotating roster Monday to Friday, and alternating weekends. For this position, you must be proficient in general practice medicine and trauma/accident and emergency medicine and hold a current emergency medicine certificate (APLS, ELS, etc). You must also have recent experience working in an unsupervised setting. Skills and experience required: General or vocational registration with AHPRA ALS2 or equivalent emergency medicine certificate Recent experience in emergency care The Organisation Ochre Health is a leading provider of healthcare to rural, regional and urban communities around Australia, operating a network of over 60 medical centres across five states and territories. There are regular visiting allied health services. The practice is co-located within the King Island Hospital and Health Centre which services six acute care beds, eight high care and six low care residential aged care beds. The hospital offers nursing assistance to the GPs for emergency and accident cases and triages all after hours calls.
