ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individuals, to fill the role of Area Manager, Construction Security (CO3), within Custodial Operations. Working closely with Custodial Operations Senior Management team and other stakeholders, the Area Manager (Construction Security) plays a critical enabling role in ensuring capital works proceed in alignment with organisation objectives. This includes managing all aspects of construction site security, such as site access, safety, risk, and resource coordination, in a cost effective and efficient manner in accordance with legislation, policy, procedures, industry best practice and budgets. In addition, you will develop a staffing model proposal to enable the capital works to safely operate on site, recruiting and managing the proposed team that will support construction security activities, including the implementation of scheduling, rostering, and training/development, in addition to conducting performance assessments and providing feedback. The successful applicant will also support the operationalisation of upgraded infrastructure and equipment including but not limited to the creation and updating of documents, polices, procedures and staff training systems. Where appropriate, the role will involve, supervising, coaching, training, instructing and working with detainees on construction projects, including those with a history of serious crime, to develop their work skills in order to enhance post-release employment opportunities. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Relevant custodial experience and Certificate III in Correctional Practice are essential. Current unrestricted Driver’s license is essential. Relevant qualifications in at least one of the following areas is desirable: Risk management Frontline management Community safety Security management Hold the following qualification or be able to obtain before on-site work commencement: Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain; General Construction Induction Card ( White Card) Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT (including Silica awareness sub-course). Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 18 months. A merit pool may be established from this selection process. The roster that best fits the requirements of this specific position, will attract an 18% shift loading allowance, and a copy of the roster can be sought via the Contact Officer. The annual leave accrual for this specific roster will be at six weeks per annum.
