Summary: As Tech Site Manager (APAC) you will develop and support the planning for all Tech sites within your region as well as the operational delivery of those sites. As a regional tech manager you will be responsible for ensuring all Tech Sites in the region are delivered as required on time and on budget directed by the Tech Site Lead. You will manage conception through to delivery, all site plans, operational roll out, site mechanics and safety. The technical requirements will fall within your remit associated with – team base construction, wing hangars, lift systems, MHE requirements, Ground conditions, site weight restrictions, site logistics and all matters associated with the build team. Key Responsibilities: Be the lead for all things infrastructure related to the technical site - Event Infrastructure and Operations Management, Project Management, Venue Design, Collaborative work with Fan Experience Manager. Support with Shipping Logistics. Own all planning for all technical sites across the season & future seasons for your region. Direct, manage and mentor all members of your team and contractors. Collaborate and work with the SGP build team. Compile the technical site plans for all the season locations working closely with the overlay team, regional tech site ops managers and other departments to ensure all sites deliver the necessary requirements for the tech team and the SGP departments. Oversee the pre-planning, build, operations, and de-rig of the sites in collaboration with the local operations team. Manage tech infrastructure budgets with regional Head of Event/Regional Directors, actively find ways to increase efficiencies and build creatively to maximize experiences on the tech site. Develop contingency plans for your venues. Manage the procurement process as it relates to technical site vendors, suppliers, contractors working closely with the local operations team and wider SGP team. Contribute to the development of long terms plans for the tech site build and operations including the development and implantation of sustainability strategies for your region and globally. Ensure tech site risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated as reasonably practicable. Ensure the safety and security of all individuals operating on the tech site or visiting by working closely with the Global Senior Risk and Safety Manager. Support SailGP Tech Team, Technology Team, Broadcast Team, Content Team, Digital Team, Hospitality Team and all other departments as reasonably expected, including staying up to date on daily program changes to ensure smooth site operations. Local stakeholder management. Local supplier management. Manage permits, license and consenting in collaboration with the regional team. Any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Global Tech Site lead, Director of Logistics/Regional Head of event/Regional Director as appropriate. Operational responsibilities: Oversee daily on-site operations, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time and to the required quality standards Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure all project components are integrated and aligned. Act as the site point of contact for all operations, supporting the successful delivery of the event at the Technical Site Maintain strong on-site project management, enabling smooth progression through tasks, while tracking project risks and successes. Enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations Manage and allocate resources, including labour, materials, and equipment, to maximize efficiency and minimize delays. Address any issues that arise during time onsite, whether related to scheduling, resources or site conditions. Maintain accurate records of all on-site activities, including daily logs, change orders, and incident reports. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Leadership: Collaborate with the TSL/DOL to align operational priorities with the company’s overarching objectives. Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance across all operational processes. Drive a culture of excellence and innovation, ensuring that operational standards are continuously raised. Lead the selection and securing of contracts with the legal team and Operations Admin. Process Optimisation & Improvement: Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities for simplification and efficiency. Lead the adoption of technology and tools, such as Monday.com, to streamline project management and resource allocation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and creative problem-solving. Resource & Infrastructure Management: Ensure optimal allocation of resources across departments and projects, balancing priorities and capacity. Build and maintain a preferred supplier network to ensure consistency and cost-effectiveness working closely with procurement Health, Safety, & Compliance: Champion health and safety across all in-house and on-site activities, embedding a culture of awareness and compliance. Manage, review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for projects – IOSH for your areas of responsibility. Stay ahead of regulatory requirements and industry best practices to ensure full compliance working with the Risk team. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire your team to excel in their roles and contribute to the company’s success. Foster collaboration and trust within the team and across departments, ensuring alignment with shared goals. Identify training and development opportunities to build a high-performing, resilient team. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to align operations with project needs. Act as a trusted partner for external stakeholders, ensuring smooth collaboration with suppliers, freelancers, and clients. Financial Oversight: Compile and manage operational budgets, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings working closely with the Tech site lead and Regional Head of event/Director, procurement department and Finance team Ensure alignment with the TSL/HOE/RED to forecast and track operational expenditures. Key Competencies: Strategic and operational leadership Strong technical knowledge of event infrastructure and logistics principles Advanced project management skills, with proven experience in large-scale event delivery Financial acumen with experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills Demonstrated commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in large-scale event or technical site management, preferably in sports, entertainment, or live event environments. Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in high-pressure, fast-paced environments Proficiency in project management tools and Google Workspace Location: Sydney. Hybrid working model. Regular attendance in the Sydney office will be required as well as travel within the Asia Pacific region.
