The Australian Wagyu Association (AWA) is the world's leading Wagyu breed association driving global genetic improvement, data innovation, and industry collaboration. We’re seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead operations, empower teams, and deliver on AWA’s strategic vision. About the Role Reporting to the CEO, the COO will oversee daily operations across Australia and the US, managing functions including registration, member services, IT systems, and performance recording programs. You’ll lead a dedicated team, strengthen industry partnerships, and ensure operational excellence across AWA’s programs — from genetic evaluation to digital innovation. Key Focus Areas Lead and optimise AWA’s operational performance and service delivery. Build strong relationships with members, partners, and industry stakeholders (MLA, universities, R&D partners). Drive innovation through data analytics, digital systems, and program improvement. Partner with the CEO and Board on strategic execution and financial governance. Foster a high-performing, values-driven culture. Oversee AWA's genetic evalaution delivery Deliver AWA's reserach programs and strategic projects. About You You’re an experienced leader with: Executive or senior operations experience (agriculture, livestock, or member-based sectors ideal). Strong people leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. Proven strategic and financial management capability. A drive for innovation and continuous improvement. Experience in quantitative genetics and use of livestock breeding tools. Exceptional track record of technology transer and scientific innovation.
