About Us: Winton State School is part of Education Queensland in the wider Central Queensland Region. Winton is situated in Western Queensland, 178 km north-west of Longreach. There are all-weather highways to Brisbane, Sydney, Rockhampton, Mt Isa and Townsville. Winton is connected by rail to Rockhampton (via Longreach). There are some regular air services, and daily bus services to Brisbane and Mt Isa. The school has early, middle, junior secondary and senior classes, and most senior students in traineeships. Distance Education is offered in some senior subjects. The school regards itself as continuous P-12 with areas of special expertise, rather than sector-based. Our enrolment driven classes are multi-age.
