The Research, Programs and Scientific Services Branch is seeking an Assistant Director to fill a temporary position for a fixed term until June 2026 in the Health Promotion section. The Health Promotion section works with partners and stakeholders to deliver a range of programs and initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of the ACT community by addressing modifiable risk factors and protective factors that influence health. These programs and initiatives align to priority areas of the Healthy Canberra: ACT Preventive Health Plan 2020-2025 and identified actions within its action plans, along with leading the behaviour change work for identifies priorities across the Population Health Division. The Health Promotion section facilitates and leads the Healthy Canberra Grants (HCG) which provides funding opportunities to community-based organisations to improve the health of Canberrans and minimize the risk of them developing chronic diseases. HCG is promoted as the main opportunity for community organisations to seek funding to address the priority areas within the Healthy Canberra: ACT Preventive Health Plan 2020-2025. Health Promotion is seeking applications from highly motivated individuals, who will think strategically, collaborate with others, and provide leadership and supervision to Health Promotion staff. We value people with innovative and creative ideas, who communicate with candour and respect, and who have the motivation to drive projects from conception through to delivery and evaluation. We are looking for proactive and passionate people who can lead tasks and people in projects and program delivery which target ACT government health promotion priorities. The role will involve undertaking research, project or program management, program evaluation and/or management of the Healthy Canberra Grants Program. The position will also provide high level advice and respond to emerging health issues and priorities.
