The Opportunity Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is seeking a motivated Battery Operator to join the Coke Plant 1 team. The Cokemaking process plays a vital role in producing the iron and steel that support Australia’s manufacturing industry. As a Battery Operator , you’ll play an important hands-on role in operating and monitoring the Cokemaking process. Working as part of a skilled and safety-focused team, you’ll support the smooth running of daily operations to ensure stable production, environmental compliance, and efficient plant performance. This role works a 24/7, 12-hour rotating roster and is overtime eligible. What will you do? Whilst building effective relationships, both internally and externally. You will also: safely operate and monitor Cokemaking equipment to maintain consistent production and product quality. proactively identify and respond to plant issues to minimise downtime and maintain asset reliability. contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, environmental performance, and process efficiency. support operational excellence through adherence to procedures, teamwork, and effective communication across shifts. promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility in all plant operations.
