THE ROLE The Senior Solicitor in the Corporate and Construction team will be responsible for providing practical, outcomes-focused legal advice and support on issues associated with the delivery of the State's $5.3 billion Big Housing Build investment program. The role will work across a broad range of areas of practice including construction, infrastructure, contracts and procurement, commercial structures including private public partnerships (PPP), market engagement, contract administration, project finance, debt and equity structures, funding agreements with non-profit organisations and taxation. As a Senior Solicitor in the Corporate and Construction team, you will be required to provide timely legal advice and prepare legal documentation for our clients, This includes the Chief Executive Officer of Homes Victoria, other senior management, housing development and commercial project teams in Homes Victoria and the housing portfolio Minister who is supported by the department. Your advice must be clear, accurate and appropriate to meeting the client's needs. You will also be required to assist in monitoring and reporting on the performance and quality of advice of contracted legal firms in meeting the needs of the department's clients. The Senior Solicitor role will report to the Managing Principal Solicitor, Corporate and Construction team. The role is also key in supporting less experienced staff. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Provide authoritative advice on complex legal and policy issues, and provide high level briefings and correspondence. Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver high quality client focused legal services in relation to complex and sensitive matters. * Prepare briefs and instruct counsel and contracted solicitors of the Victorian Government Legal Services Panel in complex and sensitive matters.
