As a Assistant Animal Technician, you will: Provide support in Aquatic, Aviary, Wildlife and rodent animal husbandry and technology, conduct sanitisation, plant maintenance, water quality monitoring and other care related activities for animals as directed. Feed animals daily in accordance with all feeding protocols. Under broad direction, maintain and care for animals by ensuring that they are observed on a daily basis to assess health, ecological conditions, social environment and ensure clean food, water and an enriched environment is provided daily. Under broad direction document animal history and any other data as required. To be successful, you’ll have: Completion of an Associate Diploma level qualifications with relevant work experience or a certificate level qualification with post-certificate relevant work experience. Completion of a post-Trades Certificate or Advanced Certificate and extensive relevant and on the job training; or An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated experience in the care of animals e.g aquatic, avian, wildlife and rodent species. Knowledge of animal use in research and teaching in a broad range. Frequent work outside business hours is required (e.g., the work pattern includes hours outside business hours, weekend, University and public holiday rosters and on call work).
