About the Role ALS Environmental in Smithfield requires Semi Volatile Organic Prep Supervisor. You will be supervising the growing team in the Organics rep section and assist in the day-to-day smooth running of the section. This role will be ideal for proven team leader or a chemist looking for a new opportunity to step into a people leadership role running and coordination teams and hone your supervisory skills for the future. The role will be reporting to the Senior Inorganic Chemist, however, be collaborative with the Organic Leadership Team comprising of Team Leaders and Senior Chemists. Amongst leadership responsibilities the successful candidate will be required to fill in production gaps and method coverage where necessary. The Day to Day The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following: Supervise and lead the Semi-volatile Organic Prep team, including selecting rosters and assisting with 1v1 and performance management reviews in collaboration with the Senior Organic Chemist. Manage staffing levels in accordance with workflow demands to ensure optimal productivity. Conduct and implement cross-training plans to ensure versatility within the team and reduce production gaps. Ensure all tasks are completed in line with due dates, holding times (HT), and turnaround time (TAT) compliance. Oversee the implementation of quality actions in the Prep section as directed by the Quality Chemist, ensuring adherence to QWI and quality training compliance. Trouble shoot and problem-solve any issues arising within the section to ensure production targets and quality standards are consistently met. Provide professional leadership and foster a positive work environment, ensuring high standards of quality training and development are maintained. Work with Team Leader and Senior Chemist to direct and facilitate the training of staff, ensuring that training goals are met without compromising production throughout. Monitor and manage absenteeism in relation to workflow and holding time, ensuring TAT compliance. Maintain the supply of consumables, ensuring the smooth running of operations and minimizing downtime. Ensure the section complies with health and safety (HSE) requirements and participants in safety audits and initiatives. Ensure production targets are met in a timely manner, balancing the need for quality output and efficient workflow. Fill in production gaps and conduct cross-training where required to maintain seamless operations. Execute the goals and objectives of the Inorganic Prep section in alignment with company standards and deadlines. Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant QA/QC documentation and workplace records, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date reporting. Our Requirements: Demonstrated management experience or experience in supervising a team. Maintain positive working relationships within a team and adaptable and resilient to production management. Innovation and problem-solving mindset. Two or more years' laboratory experience, preferably in the field of Environmental Science. Proven track record of maintaining HSE and Quality Compliance within the workplace.
