About the role On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a dedicated, self-driven and highly organized Fitter to be part of their growing team. You will be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations on fixed processing plant and associated equipment in accordance with site safety standards and production requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on crushers, conveyors, pumps, screens, and other fixed plant equipment. Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or replacements of mechanical components to minimise downtime. Install and align gearboxes, bearings, motors, and drive systems. Conduct inspections, lubrication, and condition monitoring on critical assets. Read and interpret technical drawings, maintenance manuals, and work instructions. Operate tools and lifting equipment safely and in line with site procedures. Complete maintenance records, defect reports, and work orders accurately. Collaborate with electricians and operators to ensure reliable and safe operation of equipment. Comply with all isolation, lockout, and permit-to-work procedures. Participate in shutdowns, plant upgrades, and continuous improvement activities. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fixed plant maintenance principles. Competence in fault-finding, repair, and alignment of rotating equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and follow maintenance procedures. Commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and reporting requirements. Qualifications needed: Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitter) or equivalent qualification. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working on fixed plant or processing equipment in the mining or heavy industrial sector. Specialisations (preferred): Hydraulic systems, bearing maintenance, or precision alignment.
