The Role Our client is searching for an enthusiastic Leading Hand to join their family-owned operation near Roma, QLD, providing the ideal opportunity to take your skills in beef cattle operations to the next level by leading a small team on this iconic property. The property spans 38,000 acres of premium brigalow country and employs an intensive grazing system across more than 75 paddocks, backgrounding approximately 6,000 head of cattle. The role will involve 80% cattle work and 20% infrastructure development, with a strong emphasis on pasture management and optimal cattle rotation. All stock work is conducted using horses, dogs and low-stress handling methods in state-of-the-art facilities, including horse training amenities, and access to some of the best stock and quarter horses available. As a Leading Hand, you will report directly to the Overseer and Manager and will be responsible for managing a small team in all aspects of the property's day-to-day operations. Your duties will encompass mustering, animal husbandry, drafting, loading and unloading trucks, fencing, water management, and maintaining animal health and welfare. A mechanical mindset is essential, as you will be required to operate various small to medium-sized machinery to support infrastructure development and maintenance. A highly professional and close-knit team, they value manners and respect in all aspects including presentation, equipment and facilities, supporting career progression for the right candidates. The opportunity for you to bring your own horses and working dogs is subject to approval from the management based on strict guidelines.
