You will be the bridge between complex financial concepts and scalable technical solutions. Your background in finance will be crucial as you guide the team in building the engine that performs portfolio analysis for our investors all around the globe, every single day. You must be comfortable diving deep into the code, architecting systems, and mentoring your team to achieve new levels of excellence. Champion engineering excellence and quant rigour, setting high standards for code quality, system architecture, and model implementation. TEAM STRUCTURE You will report to the Chief Technology Officer. This isn't a typical management role. You will be a "player-coach," leading a small, high-impact team of engineers responsible for the portfolio Engineering team. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead & Mentor: Manage a small team of 3-5 software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ownership. Conduct regular 1-on-1s, provide career guidance, and support the professional growth of your team members. Be Hands-On: This is not a hands-off role. You are expected to spend a significant portion of your time on technical work, including system architecture, code reviews, and writing clean, high-quality code for critical path features. Technical Strategy & Architecture: Drive the technical vision for our financial data and analysis platform. Make key architectural decisions to ensure our systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable as we add more data sources and analytical models. Domain Expertise: Translate complex financial requirements from product managers and in-house analysts into technical specifications. Use your deep understanding of equity analysis, financial statements, and valuation models to challenge and refine product ideas. You will have experience on portfolio analysis at scale. Execution & Delivery: Own the end-to-end delivery of your team’s projects. Champion agile methodologies and ensure the team is consistently shipping high-quality software that provides value to our users. Collaborate: Work closely with product, design, and data science teams to define the roadmap and build a world-class investing tool. CAPABILITIES Software Engineering Experience: You are proficient in a modern tech stack (we use technologies like JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, AWS, Docker, and PostgreSQL) and are passionate about writing code and building systems. Financial & Quantitative Analysis Experience: A strong and demonstrable background in stock investing, quantitative analysis, or financial modelling. You should be able to comfortably discuss concepts like DCF models, financial ratios, income statements, dividends or equity curves. You will have solid experience in portfolio management solutions. Leadership: At least 2 years' experience inspiring and motivating teams to achieve their goals and grow in their career. Setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable for outcomes while maintaining high quality standards. Communication/Collaboration: You can effectively influences stakeholders and drive alignment on goals cross functionally. Startup Mindset: You thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
