Description Do you want to learn on the job while you study? Sedgman’s Cadet program is 22 years old in 2026. We have a long history developing Cadet Designers and supporting them through their studies. In fact, one of our first Cadets now manages the program! Our program is so successful, many have either never left Sedgman, or have come back to the team after experiencing work elsewhere. So, what makes life as a Cadet Designer at Sedgman so great? The work. We offer a 4-year rotation program (3 years if your study is complete), which means you’ll experience three different design disciplines to find the work you enjoy best – Structural, Mechanical and Piping. At the end of your program, you’ll have the opportunity to decide which discipline is right for you and your career! The people. We really do have some talented senior designers and engineers in our team. You’ll be paired and supported by mentors and buddies that can help you through technical and other problems every step of the way. The support. We value our Cadets and want you to have the support you need to complete your studies. Along with buddies and mentors, you get six hours a week for study/class time, so you aren’t fitting it around full time work hours. The location. The Sedgman offices are less than five minutes’ walk from South Bank TAFE and the train station.
