Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced Media & Communications professional to drive proactive media, shape key messages and safeguard reputation for a large Queensland local government. Rate: $58.00 per hour super Location: City of Logan, QLD Contract length: approximately 4 months Key responsibilities Develop and implement media and communication strategies aligned to organisational objectives. Identify, develop and pitch proactive media opportunities to local, state and national outlets. Provide strategic media and communication advice to elected members, executives and senior leaders. Coordinate strategic campaigns and messaging with clear KPIs; monitor media and advise on opportunities for comment. Prepare publication-ready content (media releases, speeches, editorial) for mainstream and social channels; contribute to internal/external publications. Support media training and reviews; maintain strong media networks; create professional digital imagery for publication/broadcast. Prerequisites & desirables Degree in Journalism, Communications or PR; or extensive equivalent experience in a political/major media environment. Prior experience in a media advisor/communications role (government, large organisation with media arm, or PR agency) desirable. Advanced written/oral communication with demonstrated publication-ready outputs; strong stakeholder engagement and influence, especially with media. Comfortable with social media and web-based tools. Other requirements Current C-class driver’s licence; must meet Working with Children requirements (current Blue Card). May participate in after-hours on-call roster.
