About us Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to 'Closing the Gap' in Aboriginal health within remote Australia. About the Role The Financial Accountant must provide professional accounting services to Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi Health) assisting the Finance Manager with high level accounting, reporting, taxation and grant acquittal skills, ensuring Anyinginyi Health’s general ledger reconciliations are in accordance with accounting standards and ATO requirements. Funding milestones are recorded. Contribute to the finance team’s funding, reporting and audit requirements. Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Finance Officer role. About You To be considered for this position, you must have respect for traditional Aboriginal culture and cultural diversity and the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal/culturally diverse people. Knowledge and understanding of the core functions and services provided by Anyinginyi and an appreciation of the link between this understanding and improved financial management. To be considered for this position, you must have proven experience as a Financial Accountant, experience in not-for-profit accounting is desirable. The Financial Accountant must poses a Batchelor of Accounting and or CPA/ Chartered or equivalent formal accounting studies, along with 2 years hands on experience in payroll. Essential skills and experience Minimum Bachelor of Accounting and/or CPA/Chartered or equivalent formal accounting studies is required for this role, along with a 2-years hands-on experience in payroll. Demonstrated ability to use relevant Microsoft Office Programs, Xero and desirably intermediate level in Microsoft Excel. Well-developed ability to interact with a range of stakeholders, suppliers and employees by telephone and in-person in a positive manner when following up queries and gathering the necessary information to support administrative and corporate decision making. Comprehensive understanding of corporate finance and accounting reporting requirements to ensure compliance with current legislation, funding bodies and Board of Directors’ needs. Working knowledge of Goods & Service Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, and application to Not for Profit entities Understanding of practices and principles of Health and Safety in the workplace. OCHRE Card (Working with Children). Desirable Experience working in the Aboriginal community control sector and understanding of contemporary issues faced by Indigenous people. Experience in a quality control organisation that is funded externally and is regularly accredited. Experience with Xero and Employment Hero.
