A Senior Cropping Farm Hand is sought to join a team. Our client values experience and knowledge; age is just a number. The Employer: Our employer's farming portfolio consists of two properties, "Messamurray" being the focus for this senior farm hand role. This 2,800 ha property features 700 ha dedicated to cropping, including pasture hay, wheat, barley, canola, and beans. Four centre pivots supply irrigation for seed crops and hay. The livestock operation includes 2,000 breeding merino ewes joined to Border Leicester rams, and 550 Angus self-replacing breeding cows, all finished to an industry high standard on farm. Livestock infrastructure includes sheep yards, a Combi Clamp and two sets of cattleyards. Our client has an additional property, "Coomandook," 4500 ha in size, an easy 2-hour drive away. This separate entity provides Messamurray with breeding stock. The senior farm hand may be required to assist at Coomandook on rare occasions. The Role The Senior Cropping Farm Hand will report to the Owner and Farm Manager. The role involves operating modern CASEIH equipment, including headers, self-propelled sprayers, spreaders, balers, and tractors. The successful candidate will work alongside two existing full-time employees and casual workers during peak seasons, such as harvest. The successful applicant will possess a comprehensive understanding of the entire cropping cycle, encompassing seeding, spraying, spreading, and harvesting. While a current chemical certification is preferred, training will be offered to suitable candidates. Our client uses Agriwebb to record various farm activities, including paddock sowing, spraying, harvesting, livestock movements, and animal health treatments. Due to seasonal demands, such as seeding and harvest, this role may involve long and immediate hours, including weekend work. The Offer The successful candidate will be offered an industry-competitive, hourly rate, dependent upon experience, in conjunction with cabin-style accommodation if housing is required. This is a simple four-room cabin with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The cabin is air-conditioned with a split system. Electricity and a work vehicle are also included in the package. Naracoorte, a mere 15-minute drive away, is home to 8,000 people, providing countless sporting and recreational activities just a stone's throw away.
