Title:- Head of IT Data Location: Sydney Type: Permanent / Full-time Overview The Head of Data will lead the organisation's data transformation journey, driving the review, development, and delivery of a robust Data Strategy aligned with long-term business objectives. This role requires a strategic and technically capable leader with strong change management experience, capable of shaping a data-driven culture while ensuring best-practice data governance, insight, and innovation across the organisation. With an engineering background and extensive experience implementing traditional and modern data platforms, the Head of Data will deliver the organisation's Data Strategy and modernise the enterprise data platform. This includes achieving single version of truth outcomes, establishing governance, stewardship, and catalogue structures, and enabling BI, analytics, and data culture across the business. Key Responsibilities Lead the process of Data Strategy review and development to identify the necessary processes and skills in data management required to achieve long-term objectives. Implement the Data Strategy by leading and supporting teams across the organisation. Advise Senior Management and executives on relevant Data issues and trends in market. Provide business cases for any investments in data systems development and lead their implementation. Strategic Development Develop a comprehensive and effective Data Strategy. Identify, in conjunction with the Database Manager, core (and any ongoing) changes needed to the database structure to support this strategy. Ensure data delivery and data governance. Develop strategy to migrate from an on-premise data warehouse to a best-in-market cloud platform. Develop strategy to integrate external data and enhance data insights. Leadership & Delivery Delivering Data Strategy and modernising an enterprise data platform. Build a highly effective team using existing members or new hires. Engineering background with solid experience implementing many traditional data platforms up to the most modern data platforms. Delivered multiple single version of truth outcomes along with building data governance, stewardship, and catalogue. Successfully enabled data culture within the business and enabled adoption of BI, data championship, and analytics. Good technical background enabling effective collaboration with developers and architects. Strong soft skills enabling effective collaboration with executives. Stayed updated with trends and technologies in data management, analytics, and reporting, ensuring competitiveness and driving innovation. Managed the budget and resources for the data and supporting functions, optimising allocation for efficient operations and strategic initiatives.
