About the opportunity Join our Renewable Energy Safety department in the Regulatory Operations division and play a pivotal role in delivering regulatory guidance to electricity generation companies. You'll ensure safety and compliance in the large-scale renewable energy sector, with a focus on wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Reporting to the Generation and Storage Manager, you'll work alongside talented engineering and regulatory professionals, building strong relationships and shaping the future of energy safety. Key Responsibilities: Lead the review and assessment of safety cases and safety management plans for renewable energy projects Provide formal guidance and feedback to regulated entities to help them meet obligations and improve safety outcomes across the sector Conduct incident and compliance investigations, applying Energy Safe's compliance and enforcement policy to renewable energy facilities Support Energy Safe's engagement with proponents in the generator licensing process, liaising with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), industry, and government on major infrastructure projects Engage and build strong relationships with external stakeholders Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage technical expertise, drive integration with strategic goals, and uplift organisational capability Monitor industry trends and emerging risks in renewable infrastructure safety, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Represent Energy Safe at external forums and contribute to the development of best practices in renewable energy safety Conduct technical reviews and make recommendations to management on safety cases for generation and storage projects To be successful, you will have: Expert knowledge of safety management principles and regulatory practices relating to energy infrastructure, including asset management, risk assessment, and compliance with Victorian regulations and Australian standards. Demonstrated experience in renewable energy technologies, including design, operation, and safety assessment. Strong analytical and conceptual skills for evaluating complex technical issues, identifying emerging risks, and developing practical solutions. High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills Project management and organisational skills, including the ability to lead and deliver multiple projects in a fast-paced environment An ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines, leveraging technical expertise to drive integration with strategic goals and uplift organisational capability.
